HMRC code (e.g. 1257L) telling your employer how much tax-free pay to apply.

A code issued by HMRC that tells your employer how much tax-free income you are entitled to in a tax year. It is used to calculate the correct amount of income tax to deduct from your pay. The most common code is 1257L.
