## What myAccount is Revenue myAccount is the secure online service for individual taxpayers in Ireland. It covers PAYE, USC, PRSI, and various reliefs. Self employed and other "chargeable persons" use Revenue Online Service (ROS) instead. You sign in with your PPS number and a password, with two factor authentication via mobile or app. ## Core features | Feature | What it does | | --- | --- | | Tax Credit Certificate | Shows your credits and SRCOP for the year | | Manage your tax | Add or remove jobs, change credits | | Review your tax 2020 to 2026 | Request Statement of Liability | | Employment Detail Summary | View employer reported pay and tax | | Receipts Tracker | Upload medical and other expense receipts | | Local Property Tax | Pay or set up deductions | ## Year start checks Each January it is worth checking: - The Tax Credit Certificate matches your circumstances - Marital status, employment, and credits are accurate - Any side income is captured A few minutes here saves a year of incorrect deductions. ## Mid year changes Common mid year actions: - Notify a new employment (essential to avoid emergency tax) - Add the Home Carer Credit when a child is born or relative becomes dependent - Claim flat rate expenses or Rent Tax Credit - Update bank details for refunds ## Year end actions After year end: - Wait for EDS to populate (usually mid January) - Review for accuracy - Request Statement of Liability if you had any non standard situation - Upload receipts for medical or other claims - Receive any refund directly to your bank account ## Worked scenario Niamh starts a new role in April 2026. She: 1. Logs into myAccount 2. Goes to "Update Job and Pension" 3. Adds her new employer's tax registration number and start date 4. Allocates credits and SRCOP between old (now ceased) and new A few days later her new employer receives an updated RPN and runs payroll correctly. Without this step, Niamh would face emergency tax. ## Security tips - Never share your password - Enable two factor authentication - Be suspicious of phone or text messages claiming to be Revenue (Revenue rarely contacts by phone) - Keep your address up to date so paper notices are not lost ## Educational notice This article is general guidance for navigating myAccount. For complex tax positions always consult a qualified tax adviser.
